Family cycling in the French Alps

Has the Tour de France got you and yours hankering to hit the roads on two wheels? The French Alps could be the perfect destination for a family cycling trip.

Though the Alps boast some of the most challenging ascents and thrilling descents of the Tour, in recent years France has made significant investment in cycling infrastructure across the board.

That means well marked cycle routes around the country, and not all of them are challenging! Winding valley floor routes are suitable for the smallest members of your party, and offer soaring mountain views without the blood, sweat and tears.

Another way to take advantage of the scenery is to make the most of the chair lifts. During summer months, you can take bicycles on some chair lifts and enjoy riding downhill. The French Alps boast several bike parks, each with well marked trails for riders of all abilities.

Bike hire is available in many larger towns in the French Alps - or if you’re keen cyclists at home, you can bring your own kit. Cycling tour guides and bike shops may also be able to arrange to drop off and pick up your bikes, making life as easy as possible.

Of course, a holiday requires some downtime too - and you’ll find plenty of family-friendly amenities to enjoy your time away from the saddle too. From water parks to relaxed cafes, you’ll find the French Alps are well suited for family holidaying.

For keen cyclists, there’s no better place to invest in a holiday property than the French Alps. If you’re interested in investing in a chalet or apartment in the French Alps, we can help you to find somewhere that ticks all of your boxes. Get in touch to learn more.
