What’s new in Les Deux Alpes

Les Deux Alpes has long been a favourite of the dedicated skier, thanks to a glacier which allows for almost year-round skiing. And a new announcement has made it an even more tempting prospect for the keen skier.

This year new investment totalling €500 million was announced, to be spent on improving the ski area, infrastructure and on urban development over the next four years.

Already a delightful year-round holiday destination, the improvements are sure to bring in more tourism and put Les Deux Alpes firmly on the map.

The ski season in the resort runs from December to April, while summer skiing on the glacier is available before midday from June to August. This unique feature means that during summer months visitors can enjoy a morning of skiing followed by an afternoon of summery adventure sports - something that’s almost unique in the French alps.

€150 million will be invested in the ski area to include a faster, more comfortable connection to the glacier, a new eight-seater gondola operational for winter 2019-20. Three other new ski lifts will be installed for the following season, while the ski area will be expanded with the creation of several additional slopes.

Another major structuring project for the area will be the new €70 million cable link to L'Alpe d'Huez, operational for 2021-2022. Linking the two stations, summer and winter, it will create the third largest ski area in the world!

New underground parking areas will allow for more of Les Deux Alpes to be pedestrianised, while a new multi-pool aqua centre is also planned to open by 2023 - a great option for holidaying families when the weather is poor.

The new developments are sure to create additional demand for property to rent and buy in the resort. If you’re interested in investing in property in Les Deux Alpes, please do get in touch with one of our very friendly team.
