Three of the best summer walks near Megeve

There’s more to Megeve than brilliant skiing; it’s also an area that’s breathtakingly beautiful during the summer months, making it the perfect place for a relaxing and outdoors based holiday. We’ve rounded up some of the best summer walks to do near Megeve, so read on to find out more:

Short walk - La Belle au Bois Waterfall

If it’s just a short walk that you’re after, then this should do the job - there’s no need to drive anywhere as you can set off from the town centre, and the walk takes just an hour and twenty minutes to the falls and back.

Set off towards La Planellet from the centre of town and follow signs to Le Tour. Take the Chemin du Maz and walk until you see a sin for La Belle au Bois; head into the forested area and you’ll soon hear the sound of the falls to guide you in the right direction.

Intermediate walk - Christomet

It’s an all-day activity if you choose to hike to the Christomet, but it’s less challenging than some of the other walks in the area, the perfect choice for a laid back summer day of walking and picnicking with friends and family.

It takes in beautiful Alpine meadows and the summit offers a breathtaking view of some of the nearby mountains, including the Mont-blanc range.

Experienced walk - Croisse Baulet

If you’re up for a challenge then walking up the Croisse Baulet could fit the bill. It’s a long walk so it’s recommended to start early and the path becomes steep and tough going towards the summit, so it’s best only to attempt it if you’re reasonably fit.

The views from the crest are well worth the effort, however, and you’ll have a sense of accomplishment that’s second to none.

There are plenty of experienced guides available to hire in Megeve - it isn’t necessary but if you’d like to hire one to show you the way you won’t have a problem finding someone.

The beautiful walks in the Megeve area in the summer are just half the story; it also offers fantastic skiing in the winter months. If you’re thinking of buying a home in the Megeve area, get in touch with us to see the beautiful properties in our extensive portfolio.
