The dual season beautiful and picturesque resort of Vercorin, situated high above the left bank of the Rhône river, a few minutes from the valley benefits from stunning views of the Rhone Valley and exceptionally favourable weather conditions thanks to a regional microclimate. One of the main villages of the Val D' Anniviers ski domain this is simply one of Europe's best kept secrets that also include the charming unspoilt villages of Chandolin, St Luc, Zinal, Vissoie and Grimentz. Sitting beneath high, snow sure slopes, a single ski pass gives you access to over 220 km of snow covered slopes covering across the different resorts. With skiing from 1400 to 3000 m, skiers and snow boarders alike, will find slopes corresponding to all levels of ability. A freeride park at Zinal is easily available for all snowboarder fans.
In Vercorin itself, pistes range in altitude from 1340 to 2374 m and include 4 km covered with snow artificially. A four person gondola, 10 skilifts, snowpark, fun boxes, railside, jumps, ski/ snowboarding school and a beginners slope in the village make up the infrastructure. These facilities enable skiers of all levels to make the most of the 35 km of ski runs.
Locally, in the summer Vercorin, has over 80 kilometres of walkways, from the Vallon de Réchy to the Val d'Anniviers and over 40 km of tracks marked for bicycles. With walks alongside ancient water irrigation channels called Bisses, on roads or even the high mountain passes, Vercorin has a countless number of clearly signposted walks adapted to suit every level of walker. The very beautiful Vallon de Rechy is one of the natural treasures in the whole area. A small valley entirely protected, without roads or buildings, gives unlimited opportunities to walk and watch exceptional plants and animals and landscapes. This small paradise with its breathtaking countryside is one of the Central Valais must sees.
Across the Val D’ Anniviers itself, the extensive 1295 km of marked out footpaths cover everything from vineyards to everlasting snow and from the nature reserve to wild fauna at the top of the tree line. Here you’ll be enchanted in autumn by the infinite seasonal pallet of colours from the tints of red to the turquoise blue of the Moiry lake.
Vercorin has all the usual amenities you would expect of a established ski resort including Creche/ nursery for children of two and above, restaurants, bars, shops, ski hire, nightclub and lots more. Offering a sports centre consisting of a snack bar, 2 tennis courts, a football field, a bowling alley, paddling pool and a play park for youngsters, during the summer you’ll also be able to go on guided horse riding tours around the region.
Vercorin can easily be reached by plane via Geneva taking 2 hours by car from the airport. During the winter, Sion can be reached direct from the London airports by a number of specialist charter flights or by private plane, giving passengers an easy 25 minute drive up into the resort. A train service links Geneva to Sierre where a bus service takes you to the resort. Alternatively the gondola links Vercorin to Sierre. The high speed train TGV des Neiges from Paris runs direct to Sierre every Saturday in the winter season.
A place where the Swiss love to come and stay, until recently Vercorin was relatively undiscovered by those outside Switzerland.
