Set at an altitude of 1430m, this large, bustling, attractive and traditional village with its church dating back to the 17th Centrury is well suited to those that want to come to ski or not. Valloire sits within the superb 165km Galibier Thabor ski domain with skiing now to 2750m thanks to the recent investment in the ski area. Linking with the resort of Valmeinier 1800m, 70% of the ski domain can be found above 2000m to ensure snow surety. With an 1100m vertical decent over 12km, Valloire is the most well known ski resort in the Maurienne Valley.
Providing excellent apres ski and a car free centre, the resort is excellent for beginners and intermediaries while for those more adventurous and experienced, you can head to the Valmeinier side where there is good off piste to be found.
Valloire is also synonomous with a strong summer season with many activities. Sitting within the world famous Maurienne Valley with its 800km cycling network that includes 11 mountain passes, it is a major draw from cyclists all over the world to test their endurance in this region. The Tour de France regularly passes through on its way for the famous Col du Galibier.
