Situated mid-way between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, Morzine is stunning for Alpine scenery, nestled between forests and summits. Sprawling along both sides of a river gorge, the resort has a traditional atmosphere, fantastic nightlife and enormous ski area to explore, the 650km Portes Du Soleil (12 resorts, 2 countries and 194 lifts). Ideally placed right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Morzine is the gateway to a marvellous winter playground. Ranging from 950 – 2300m, the ample wooded slopes, few queues locally and largely reliable weather conditions, make this some of the finest skiing in Europe and extremely popular with the British.
With beautiful picturesque dramatic views, the local ski slopes on the west side of the resort are shared with the slightly higher resort of Les Gets, while on the other side of town is the gondola that forms the link with Avoriaz. For those not interested in skiing there is plenty to do, including 2 Ice rinks (indoor and outdoor), sledging (day and night), snowshoe treks, snow scooters, scuba diving under ice and hot air ballooning amongst some of the activities on offer.
In summer, the extensive network of slopes become hundreds of miles of sign-posted footpaths for hiking and mountain biking for all ages and fitness levels. Over the years the Portes du Soleil has become renowned as the prime place for mountain bikers from the whole world over (650km of sign posted tracks, 10 downhill runs 24 ski lifts equipped for Mountain bikes) while the world famous road race, the Tour de France, has a major stage through the resort also.
Other summer activities include a leisure park with two swimming pools (1 Olympic sized), tennis courts, climbing (training cliff face or for real), white water rafting, canyoning, abseiling, natural toboggans, indoor ice rink, adventure park, equestrian centre, paragliding, paintball, golf, quad bikes, fishing and hot air ballooning are all on offer.
Being a dual resort, if you are looking to rent your chalet or apartment to cover some of the costs, Morzine offers great potential throughout the winter and summer periods, thanks to its access to the Portes du Soleil, particularly the Christmas/ New Year week , the 4 weeks of February and July/August, when rental returns are at a premium.
With just 70km to Geneva airport (75 mins), the short transfer times from the airport make owning a property in Morzine an ideal location.
