Reasons to visit

This charming and delightful, traditional Savoyard village, with all modern facilities suitable for all sports enthusiasts, lies perfectly at the entrance to the vast internationally famous Portes du Soleil. Montriond, offers easy access to the huge 650km ski domain that spans 2 countries and 12 resorts via the high speed Ardent telecabine which takes you to the Plateau de La Lecherette. This flat area ideal for beginners, allows skiers and boarders a choice of chairlifts taking you either up into Avoriaz or toward Chatel or Le Crosset in Switzerland.

The village has taken advantage of the closeness of its fellow French Portes du Soleil resorts that include Morzine just a 20 minute walk away or 5 minutes by car/free ski shuttle (3km), Les Gets (5km) and Avoriaz (6km) allowing it to develop its own independent touristic centre and an excellent base to own an apartment or chalet. One of the many villages that make up the beautiful Vallee d'aulps that also include, La Vernaz, La Forclaz, Le Biot, Seytroux, Saint Jean d'Aulps, Essert Romand and La Cote d'Arbroz, the resorts charm is particularly enhanced by its lake, the third largest in the region.

For those not interested in skiing in the Portes du Soleil or fancy a day off, there is plenty to do in Montriond and the surrounding area. This includes the many beautiful snow shoeing paths including the stunning lake, ice rink (Morzine), ice diving under the lake, cross country skiing, dog sledding, snow scooters/mobiles, pony rides, tobogganing, paragliding and hot air ballooning amongst some of the activities on offer.

In summer, the extensive network of slopes, become 850 miles of unrestricted, sign-posted footpaths for hiking and colour coded tracks to match ski slope degree of difficulty for mountain biking. Over the years the Portes du Soleil has become renowned as the prime place for mountain bikers from the world over, with 25 lifts available to carry bikes throughout the summer. Other summer activities in the area include an 18 hole, 5264m, par 70 refurbished golf course with stunning views, swimming lakes complete with a beach and water toboggan, tennis courts, climbing, white water rafting, canyoning, abseiling, adventure park, horse riding, caving, paragliding, microlight’s, mini golf, paintball, quad bikes, fishing, library and hot air ballooning are all on offer.

Being a dual resort, if you are looking to rent your chalet or apartment to cover some of the costs, the resort offers great potential throughout the winter and summer periods thanks to its access to the Portes du Soleil, particularly the Christmas/ New Year week , the 4 weeks of February and July/August, when rental returns are at a premium. With prices considerably lower than its sister village of Morzine, this is a great place to invest and purchase your dream apartment or chalet.

With just 67km to Geneva airport (70 minutes), the short transfer times from the airport make owning a property in Montriond an ideal location. For those wishing to drive, the resort is easy to reach and is just 605 km from Paris, 813 km from Lille, 213 km from Lyon, 996 km from London, 850 km from Bruxelles and 1045 km from Amsterdam.
