Get away from the chaos with family this festive season

When you have a family - especially a young one - making Christmas special can be all-consuming as you whirl from school plays to family events, fetes, fairs, grottos and more. So what better way to get away from the festive chaos than a special trip to the Alps at Christmas?

As much as the trimmings of Christmas are exciting for children, what makes the season special is the chance to spend quality time with the ones we love. When you get away to the Alps, you can have both.

The Alps in the winter months offer unforgettable scenery and the opportunity to make beautiful memories whilst also allowing you the chance to slow down, relax and soak up the festive season.

You’ll find that many villages and resorts in the Alps offer a wide range of the kind of special festive activities many families love to do together - all in the same place, and without any of the pressures exerted by normal life.

Your little ones can enjoy visiting Santa, spotting Christmas lights and taking to the ice rink - in the setting of quaint Alpine villages rather than town-centre shopping centres.

And as well as all of the festive activities you’d expect, you can also introduce your children to some new traditions that you wouldn’t find at home, from putting your shoes by the fire instead of leaving out a stocking, to enjoying local seasonal treats like spiced biscuits and other local produce. The Christmas season doesn’t always have to be scheduled to the rafters, and away from hectic everyday life, you can also spend quality time playing boardgames as a family, baking or going for a walk in the beautiful scenery.
