Glacier skiing this summer in Tignes

If beaches bore you and there’s no place you’d rather be than on the slopes, Tignes is the perfect summer getaway for you. Here, glacier skiing is available on the Grande Motte for much of the year, with the glacier open for summer skiing between July and September, as well as through the winter months.

You’ll find around 20 kms of skiing on offer between 3000 and 3456 metres, as well as some snowparks to enjoy. Slopes are, however, open in the mornings only in the summer as the snow gets slushy very quickly. It is recommended to head up early in the morning to enjoy the best of the snow the day has to offer.

This leaves the afternoon free for all sorts of other activities, and with a mild temperature at the base of the slopes in Tignes itself, the world is your oyster. The lake at the heart of Tignes becomes a playground for watersports enthusiasts, so you can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and much more.
