Get your ski fix in St Sorlin

As the peak of the ski season approaches, many of the biggest ski resorts book up and become extremely busy. Elsewhere, though, you can still find some hidden gems offering fantastic skiing with fewer crowds.

St Sorlin is one such gem, located in the heart of the Sybelles ski area. A traditional Alpine village, you’ll find quaint ski chalets and traditional wood-framed houses, along with all the modern amenities a skier could need.

Beginners and little ones will find several ski schools from which to choose, as well as amenities like snow gardens, toboggan runs and tubing areas. Seasoned skiers can enjoy access to a great selection of slopes, including 31 green runs, 57 blue runs, 36 red runs and 12 black runs.

If other snow sports are more your bag, you’ll also find it easy to access cross-country skiing routes, snow-shoe routes and areas ideal for snowboarding.

A great selection of restaurants and bars offer everything from traditional alpine cuisine to pizza and more luxurious French haute cuisine. Top rated restaurant Hors Piste is a great option for a special evening out, while Le Tetras, on the slopes, offers a good selection of salads, burgers and other lunch options.

Self-caterers are also well provided for, with a small grocery shop in the centre of the village and a larger supermarket just down the road. The largest nearby airport is in Lyon, where holidaymakers can catch connections all over the world. Grenoble and Chambery airports are just 90 minutes from St Sorlin while Lyon is 2 hours and Turin 2 hours 15 minutes. For those that want to come by train the TGV stops in St Jean de Maurienne and from here it is a 25 minute taxi ride into the resort costing circa €40.

If you love to ski, a holiday home in St Sorlin will prove a great investment, with cost per m2 much lower than more well known resorts.  You can enjoy the privilege of visiting whenever you feel like it, treating friends and family and can even rent it out when not in use to help with running costs.
