Morzine: insider’s guide to this popular resort
There's an excited buzz in Morzine this year. If you're looking at chalets and apartments for sale in the French Alps, whether for yourself or for a business venture, you need to consider this special resort. A traditional French market town, nestled up in the Haute-Savoie of the Rhone-Alpes region, Morzine's winter season 2015-16 will see no fewer than three major festivals hosted there, proving Morzine to be a top destination choice for visitors and entrepreneurs alike. You won't find a warmer welcome than in this lively resort.
With Transition Snow scheduled for December 2015, Red Bull's Crashed Ice event in January, and the sell-out Snowboxx music festival in March 2016 bringing 4,000 revellers to enjoy the big name music acts, you're spoilt for choice for fun this season. And even if festivals aren't your cup of tea, you can't dispute that such huge events bring atmosphere, investment and visitors to the resort.
Here's why we think Morzine has something for everyone - not just the festival fans:
Let's not forget most people's main reason for coming to Morzine - the skiing and snowboarding! Morzine sits within the vast Portes du Soleil ski area. With over 420 km of piste, there really is something for everyone, from beginners to pros. You'll never be bored - the area even stretches as far as Switzerland. It's an almighty, snowy playpark!
The family focus
While Morzine can certainly cater to those who enjoy a bit of apres ski, you'll find it's a really family-friendly town with a national tourist label ‘family plus’ rating. Ski schools accept children as young as three, and you'll also find a wide range of other activities to entertain the little ones, including swimming, ice skating and a big adventure park. Importantly, this resort is alive and kicking all year round, unlike many which close up over summer, meaning if you're making the move here, you'll have a real community to be a part of.
With mountains, lakes and year-round beauty, Morzine is a beautiful resort. The enormity of its surroundings means you can always find peaceful spots to take in the breathtaking views.
Not everyone is a snow bunny. But don't worry, Morzine has a host of other activities on offer, from golfing to spas. Morzine's year-round destination status and booming summer mountain-biking tourism mean it's a smart investment with great rental potential.
