Switzerland tops list of best countries to live in

A new survey by HSBC showed that Switzerland is the best place to live as an expatriate. The Expat Explorer Survey for 2014, the seventh of its kind, looks at a number of factors to determine how good a place is to live as an expat.

Why is Switzerland the best?

This year's survey showed Switzerland had the perfect combination of a strong economy, good experiences, and good resources for families. The overall experience factors in aspects like work/life balance, something that more than half of the expats in Switzerland report is better than before they moved.

The strong Swiss economy is also a big factor. Almost half of the expats in Switzerland said they were happy with the state of the local economy. This big percentage was the highest proportion for any country in the survey.

Of course, the natural beauty of Switzerland is also a big draw for expats. Those looking for property for sale in Switzerland are often amazed by the fantastic year round beauty of the Alpine country and its resorts.

Better than home

If the specific aspects weren't enough of an endorsement, expats in Switzerland made it clear that they love their adopted home. A full 75 percent of those surveyed said their life in Switzerland is an improvement on their home country.

The reasons for this include everything from the overall quality of life to the clean air and many activities available. The great education available in Switzerland is a big draw for families, with 65 percent agreeing that their children get a better education in Switzerland than they would have received in their home country.

Safety in Switzerland also received high marks. Over 80 percent of those who responded said they felt safer in Switzerland. This is a huge factor to consider when looking for any home, particularly one in a different country.

Excellent property choices

The quality of homes in Switzerland is also a big draw for those looking to move to a new country. While it wasn't included in the HSBC survey, simply looking at the property for sale in Switzerland, and the property for sale in some of the country's top resorts, such as Verbier and Montreux, make it clear that purchasers do get fantastic homes for their money.

Whether you opt for a chalet or apartment for sale in the Swiss alps, you can find excellent amenities and truly unique experiences. In fact, many properties boast the benefit of ski in and out convenience, allowing you to live on piste. The charming villages of Switzerland are also a huge draw, with year round events and activities that are perfect for those moving to Switzerland full time or choosing it for a second home location.

While the HSBC survey results are certainly not going to be a surprise for anyone living in Switzerland, they can be an encouragement to those considering a move to the Swiss alps. With fantastic mountain views and a top of the chart quality of life, now is a great time to look at property in Switzerland!
