Grimentz
At an altitude of 1570m and positioned in a sunny location, the beautiful, picturesque chocolate box, unspoilt village of Grimentz dates back to the 15th century. Its blackened raccards, ancient chalets, narrow paths and spectacular scenery oozes traditional Swiss charm at every corner.
One of the five villages that make up the stunning Val d’Anniviers ski domain, this small family friendly village with its own small 46km of uncrowded valley pistes, providing skiing to 2900m, has a worldwide reputation for its superb and extensive off piste skiing, yet offers something for all levels of skiers and snowboarders alike.
For variety in the winter, the one lift pass allows you to take advantage of more than 220km of snow covered Val d’Anniviers slopes, across the 5 different resorts of St Luc, Zinal, Vercorin, Chandolin and Grimentz, accessed using the very efficient free shuttle bus or short 20 minute drive between the villages. The resorts highly rated and recommended ski school and children’s day care, allows the perfect opportunity for adults to go explore. At the end of a good day, skiing there’s always time to give curling or skating on the natural outdoor ice rink a go.
Grimentz offers those looking to purchase property in the resort, dual season opportunities. In the summer, there’s 100km of well signposted hiking and biking trails, the European Masters Championship Course at nearby Crans Montana, sports centre, indoor pool, sauna, tennis courts and climbing, while a good selection of bars, restaurants, cafés and a nightclub ensure there’s something for everyone.
For the investor, there are major ongoing developments in the area, including a new high speed 6 man chair lift, plans to build an extensive Spa and there is even talk of linking the other villages into one large domain as a long term future project, making this a superb place to buy.
Less than 40 minutes from Sion Airport and under 2 hours from Geneva, this romantic resort is easily accessible by car or by train to Sierre and then regular bus service to the resort.
