 6.  HOW GOOGLE USES YOUR PERSONAL DATA

INFORMATION THAT GOOGLE COLLECTS

Our website uses Google services, such as Google Advertising (Google Ads), Google Analytics, Google Remarketing and embedded video content from YouTube, and we share information with Google. When you visit our website, your web browser automatically sends certain information to Google. This includes the URL of the page you’re visiting and your IP address. Google may also set cookies on your browser or read cookies that are already there.

Google uses the information shared by our websites to deliver Google services, maintain and improve them, develop new services, measure the effectiveness of advertising, protect against fraud and abuse, and personalise content and ads you see on Google and on Google partners’ sites and apps. See Google Privacy Policy to learn more about how they process data for each of these purposes and Google Advertising page for more about Google ads, how your information is used in the context of advertising, and how long Google stores this information. You can also find full information on Google’s Privacy & Terms site.

INFORMATION THAT GOOGLE USES

When you give consent on our website, we share information with Google. Google collects such information to provide better services to all their users – from figuring out basic stuff such as which language you speak, age or gender, to more complex things like which ads you’ll find most useful, the people who matter most to you online or which YouTube videos you might like.

When you’re not signed in to a Google Account, Google stores the information that they collect with unique identifiers tied to the browser, application or device that you’re using. This allows Google to do things like maintain your preferences across browsing sessions, such as your preferred language or whether to show you more relevant search results or ads based on your activity.

When you’re signed in, Google also collects information that they store with your Google Account, which they treat as personal information.

 7.  AD PERSONALISATION

Our website cookies are used for personalised advertising as well. Ad providers, such as Google, will use your information to make the ads you see more useful for you. When you interact with our website, you may be asked to choose whether you want to see personalised ads from ad providers, including Google. Regardless of your choice, Google will not personalise the ads you see if your ad personalisation setting is off or your account is ineligible for personalised ads. You can see and control what information Google uses to show you ads by visiting Google ad settings.

How you can control the information collected by Google

Here are some of the ways you can control the information that is shared to Google by your device when you visit our website:

  • Ad Settings helps you control ads you see on Google services (such as Google Search or YouTube), or on non-Google websites and apps that use Google ad services. You can also learn how ads are personalised, opt out of ad personalisation, and block specific advertisers.
  • If you are signed in to your Google Account, and depending on your Account settings, My Activity allows you to review and control data that’s created when you use Google services, including the information Google collects from our website when you visit it. You can browse by date and by topic, and delete part or all of your activity.
  • Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors engage with our site. If you don’t want Analytics to be used in your browser, you can install the Google Analytics browser add-on. Learn more about Google Analytics and privacy.
  • Incognito mode in Chrome allows you to browse the web without recording webpages and files in your browser or Account history (unless you choose to sign in). Cookies are deleted after you've closed all of your incognito windows and tabs, and your bookmarks and settings are stored until you delete them. Learn more about cookies.
  • Many browsers, including Chrome, allow you to block third-party cookies. You can also clear any existing cookies from within your browser. Learn more about managing cookies in Chrome.

 8.  DATA SECURITY

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know such data. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

9.  DATA RETENTION

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.

By law we have to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they cease being customers for tax purposes.

In some circumstances you can ask us to delete your data: see below for further information.

In some circumstances we may anonymise your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

10.  YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS

Under certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data. These include the right to:

You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.

We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response.

We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.
