Adventurous ideas for a fun autumn break in the Alps

Winter and summer might take much of the glory when it comes to Alpine holidays, but there’s a lot to be said for taking a trip in the autumn months. Not only will you avoid the crowds, but you’ll get the chance to see the Alps at a beautiful time of year, as the leaves begin to change and the first frosts begin.

It’s a great time to try out some adventure sports - with lower temperatures, physical exertion is a less intimidating prospect - but it’s still possible to get out and enjoy the best the Alps have to offer.

We’ve picked some of the most adventurous ways to fill your autumnal Alpine adventure:

Mountain biking

Mountain biking is a sport that can be as relaxed or as intense as you want - with great marked trails in areas like the Three Valleys, you can choose from beginner, intermediate or difficult levels. It’s exhilarating and a great way to see the Alps from a different angle - so why not add it to your itinerary?

Paragliding

Speaking of seeing the Alps from a different angle - how about getting a bird’s eye view? There’s nothing quite like gliding over clear glacial lakes and treetops, looking down on chocolate-box villages and beautiful Alpine scenery. Book a paragliding flight for an experience that will get your blood pumping and provide you with some fantastic holiday snapshots.

Hot air ballooning

If you fancy getting up high but paragliding feels just a little too precarious, how about splurging on a hot air balloon flight? It’s the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion - or you could just treat yourself. Soaring serenely above the Alps you’ll get all the scenic views you can handle with a cold glass of bubbly in hand - but it’s not for the faint of heart! You’ll still be a long way up, with only a canopy of warm air keeping you aloft!

See the best of the Alps all year round

Owning your own chalet or apartment in the Alps is the best way to see this beautiful area in its full splendour as often as you wish. You’ll see the Alps in the quieter, off peak seasons, get to know the locals and find secret picnic spots. If you’re thinking of buying a holiday home in the Alps, get in touch today.
