Five of the Alps' hottest restaurants for 2017

All good holidays involve copious consumption of good food and good wine, and luckily those are two things which the Alps has plenty of. Check out our picks for five of 2017’s hottest restaurants and start making a list for your next Alpine escape!

La Lanterne et le Vieux-Chalet - Nendaz

Local, seasonal produce cooked with a real creative flair is what characterises La Lanterne et le Vieux-Chalet, a cosy and unassuming little restaurant. It’s also a restaurant which, while specialising in meat, can offer vegetarian and vegan options if requested in advance, great for anyone with dietary requirements.

Le Serac - St Gervais

With one Michelin star, this small but perfectly formed restaurant is the perfect place to celebrate - whether it’s a birthday, engagement, anniversary or anything else. Sublime food is accompanied by an excellent wine list and some truly spectacular views.

Le Shed - Verbier

If it’s something a little more relaxed that you’re after then Verbier’s Le Shed could be just the place to go. Offering tasty burgers made from scratch in-house, it’s quickly becoming a firm favourite. The bar also serves a delicious selection of beers and cocktails to accompany your food.

Restaurant l'Atelier d'Edmond - Val D’Isere

Another special, high-end restaurant, Restaurant l'Atelier d'Edmond serves dishes which are both mouth-wateringly tasty and exquisitely presented. The tasting menu is wide-ranging and well-reviewed and the restaurant also offers matching wine flights - it’s a gastronomic experience that’s much more than just a meal!

Restaurant Vieux-Villars - Villars

For good old fashioned Alpine cooking, it doesn’t get much better than Restaurant Vieux-Villars, where you’ll find plenty of local specialities on the menu. Raclette and fondue feature heavily, but there are other options on the menu, and you’ll find good local wine on offer too.
