Top four family friendly ski resorts in the French Alps

Looking for the perfect place to take your family on a ski break? Whether you’ve got confident teenagers or tottering tinies, here are some of the best ski resorts for children.

Courchevel

As well as having one of the longest ski seasons and some of the most consistent snow cover in Europe, Courchevel is also a brilliant place to take children.

Gentle beginner slopes are located not far from the more complex adult runs, meaning it’s easy for mum and dad to drop in on the little ones and check how they’re doing over the course of the day.

Les Gets

Les Gets is a truly delightful and traditional resort, which offers all of the charm of rural Alpine locations with the superb skiing of a top resort.

A mini train in the resort is beloved by children and runs between the main ski lifts and the Mont Chery area. You’ll also find some fab family friendly skiing on the Grand Cry, a Trappers and Indians themed area which has small obstacles for small people and a Native American tepee for kids to visit.

Meribel

Meribel is an ideal place to take older children, with the guarantee of snow and some good middle-ability runs perfect for teenagers and adolescents still finding their feet.

A state of the art ski lift system makes getting around a breeze whatever your age, and all day sun means the whole family can stay on the slopes well into the afternoon.

Val d’Isere

If it’s a luxurious holiday with the little ones that you’re after, Val d’Isere could be just what you’re looking for. Combining top-flight conditions and all the mod cons with high-end amenities and an exceptionally good apres-ski scene, it shouldn’t surprise you to know that Val d’Isere also boasts some of the Alps’ best childcare options.

From one-to-one ski lessons to stimulating creches for those too small to take to the slopes, there’s something for every age and ability.

If you have a ski-mad family you’re keen to indulge, why not look into purchasing an Alpine ski chalet? You could whisk away the family every school holiday and celebrate special occasions in your own little slice of paradise!
