Winter 2016/17 events in the Swiss & French Alps

If you’re heading to the Alps this winter you’re sure to be on the lookout for fun events going on in the region. We’ve listed three of the best below:

Swatch Freeride World Tour

Stopping at five locations next year, including Chamonix and Verbier, the Swatch Freeride World Tour is one of the biggest winter sports events in the world.

Featuring competitors from all over the world, spectators can gasp as freeriding superstars hurl themselves down crisp white slopes and extreme gradients in an attempt to be crowned king (or queen) of the slopes!

It’s a fun day out for the whole family; kids will be thrilled by the drama of the occasion, while there’s plenty going on around the event to ensure no-one gets bored.

Carnabaar, Nendaz

Celebrate carnival in the quaint Alpine village of Baar on Feb 25th this year - it involves a fancy dress competition as well as a jubilant parade through the centre of the village, and dancing late into the night.

It’s the perfect way to top off a fun getaway with friends - if you can drag yourselves away from the area’s spectacular skiing opportunities!

La Grande Odyssée, Les Gets

In January 2017 the Portes du Soleil will host a very different kind of event - namely, one of the most prestigious long distance dog-sledding events in the world.

It’s an event that was inspired by the legendary Yukon Quest and Idirarod, and it unites top mushers from all over the world. Several races depart from the village with great spectacle, and there will be plenty of other events and activities going on around the village to entertain people of all ages.

If you’d like the chance to experience all these events and more, the perfect way to make the most of the Alps is by investing in a holiday home. You’ll be able to make memories that last a lifetime with your friends and family - and you could earn a tidy rental income on the side too!
