For a touch of luxury, why not try Courchevel ?

Courchevel has a reputation as one of the most exclusive holiday resorts, not just in the French Alps, but in the entire world. Chalets and apartments in the highest altitude parts of Courchevel are amongst the most sought after in France. With the resort's beautiful views, fantastic slopes and extensive facilities, it's easy to see why so many people want to move there.

Regular visitors to Courchevel include members of several of the world's royal families, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as George Clooney, Giorgio Armani and Roman Abramovich. They are attracted to the resort's luxury chalets and great skiing.

La Saulire, the mountain that separates Courchevel from nearby Meribel, is famed for having some of the best ski runs in the world. Freeriders flock to the area in order to experience the challenging off-piste routes. Less adventurous skiers are still willing to pay a premium in order to enjoy the many exciting runs, as well as the world-class facilities.

Getting to lay down the first tracks on any ski run is a luxury that many queue up for at ridiculous hours of the morning. The lucky owners of property in the town will have the opportunity to gain a head start over holiday makers in experiencing some of the world's best pistes.

There is a lot more to Courchevel than just the skiing. With two of France's eight six-star hotels and more Michelin starred restaurants than any other ski resort, the town is well worth spending some time in, even if it's only for a short visit. Four of the restaurants have two Michelin stars, and a further three have been awarded one star, giving fans of fine dining a total of seven restaurants from which to choose.

For keen shoppers, the resort hosts some of the world's top fashion outlets. Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dior and Cartier are all represented among Courchevel's shops. Perfect if you want to turn up to your reservation at Le Chabichou wearing the latest trends.

Courchevel has its own airport, which has achieved a not entirely enviable reputation as one of the most dangerous in the world. Safety is ensured by only allowing specially certified pilots to land there. Anyone who is willing to take a flight in to Courchevel will be treated to a spectacular landing approach through the valleys towards the airport. For the less intrepid, the town is well served by train.
