The Chalets

The project will comprise a total of 26 chalets to be built, with an initial first phase release of 14 chalets for sale in 2008. Chalets will sit directly on the slopes next to the Telecabine and run alongside the Mayen slope into Leysin and chalets will have access all year round by car without the need for chains thanks to the gradual slope of the access road which loops around.

The Alpage style chalet comprises 247.50m2 living space, 5 spacious bedrooms (option to make 6th), 4 bathrooms , toilet on ground floor, laundry room, wine cellar, 2 car garage, large open plan fully fitted kitchen area (budget 32’000 CHF), leading into a spacious living area with central feature fireplace (budget 11’000 CHF), separate dining area, while all wardrobes marked on the plans are included in the price.

These chalets are Ecologically superior to anything previously built and will include solar panels fitted to the South side of the roof providing 300 litres of hot water per day from March till November (back up 200 litre hot water from electric), wood chip insulation to reduce drafts and offers 10 times the insulation both in winter and summer than conventional systems and 20cm of expanded glass under the main floor of the chalet to reduce humidity in the summer all contributing to make these chalets very efficient and cheap to run.

Construction of the Les Balcon d’Esserts Chalets are planned to start Spring 2009 and a 2010 completion.

The location and view

These fully ski in and out chalets are to be built on the edge of the Mayen slope, a short 5 minute walk from the centre of the village. The South facing orientation guarantees sunshine on the balcony taking in the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
