A wonderful place for families lying at the border to Italy and France at the heart of the Valais Alps and the foot of the Mont Blanc Massif this idyllic and tranquil retreat high up in the Swiss Mountains offers a small picturesque tourist resort with all the facilities you need.

Situated at 1470m, surrounded by evergreen woodland and very much a haven for the outdoor activities, this stunning location with breathtaking views is a place to relax and escape the pressures of everyday life

With skiing above 2000m from December to April, the 5 slopes and 4 lifts, provide you with 20km (12 miles) of exciting and gentle piste for skiers and snowboarders alike. There is also an excellent 30km of cross country skiing and why not try the torch lit run around the lake

For those who are adventurous there’s also helicopter skiing.

 

In the summer the beautiful lake with its icy waters fed by glaciers high up in the surrounding mountains forms the focal point for the village. Here you have the perfect setting to enjoy a day at the water, boating, fishing, water sports or simply sitting in one of the café’s and bars watching the world go by while enjoying the Valaisian sunshine.

The children’s play park located on the other side of the lake is an easy walk from the village and benches can be found on all the pathways to sit and take in the views.

Away from the lake, the more energetic have over 200km of clearly marked hiking and mountain biking trails to suit all levels of activity. The Alpine Garden located on the sunny southern slope at 1500m is truly beautiful and well worth the visit. With streams and tranquil pools the colours, varieties and smells of the plants are unforgettable.

There is also horse riding, heated outdoor swimming pool open during the summer months which have grassed areas for sun bathing, tennis courts, rock climbing, and beach volleyball to keep you entertained.

Swiss National Day on the 1st August is celebrated at the lake with fireworks and a spectacular bonfire lit on the far side of the lake.

 

Champex Lac has everything you’d expect of a small tourist resort. With a choice of 14 places to eat and drink, there’s a supermarket, post office, sports shop, ski/snowboard hire, ski school and tourist information.

Situated only 20 minutes from the historic town of Martigny, the village of Champex Lac can be reached from Geneva Airport in under 2 hours.

Champex Lac is also the gateway to two world famous ski domains, Verbier and the 4 Valleys is only 15 miles and Chamonix in France is just 34 miles away.

In addition to skiing, Champex Lac offers you the chance to take part in many different winter activities. These include ice-skating on the lake, the extensive sledge run, ice pyramid climbing, curling, and snow shoe walking.
